Halloween Crafts
Yarn Spider
Supplies:
Black knitting yarn
Pipe Cleaners
Kid Scissors
Stick-on googly eyes
How to:
- Take four pipe cleaners, in any color combination you prefer and line them up.
- Then take one end of the yarn and loop it around the widest part of your four fingers – at least eight times!
- Take the loop off your hand, cut it loose from the roll of yarn and lay it parallel with the pipe cleaners.
- Cut a short bit of yarn to tie the pipe cleaners and the looped yarn together tightly.
- Cut the loops, spread out the spider legs and attach the googly eyes and you have a fun, friendly Halloween spider.
- You can tie a string of yarn to your spider to hang on the porch – or just use the pipe cleaners to attach them around the house.
Egg Carton Ghosts
Supplies:
Cardboard egg carton
Scissors
Black Magic Marker
Tissue
Rubberband
- Separate one cup from the egg carton using scissors.
- Decorate a fun, spooky or surprised ghost face on one side of the carton.
- Punch a small hole in the center of one tissue and a small hole in the top of your ghost carton.
- Cut a rubberband in half and tie one end into a double or triple knot.
- Thread the rubberband through the hole in the tissue, then the hole in the ghost carton so that the tissue hangs from the bottom and the rubberband runs through the top of the ghost.
- Use these as fun finger puppet types of toys or hang them around the house. String can be used instead of rubberbands for better hanging.
Pumpkin Garland
Supplies:
Construction paper (orange and black for pumpkins)
Crayons or markers
Scissors
Glue, tape, or staples
A long piece of string
Crayons or markers
Scissors
Glue, tape, or staples
A long piece of string
- Draw a jack-o'-lantern's face on a piece of orange paper. Make sure to draw a long stem on the top (your pumpkin or ghost will hang from this stem, which will be folded over).
- Cut out the pumpkin or ghost. Make eyes, a nose, and a mouth from black paper (or use a black crayon or marker).
- Fold the pumpkin's stem in half. Fold the ghost's "stem" completely behind the ghost.
- Attach the pumpkin or ghost to a long string. Use green yarn for the pumpkins, black string for the ghosts. Attach them using tape, glue, or staples.
- Voila! You have a garland of pumpkins. Note: these are great for making ghost garlands too. Just use white paper and make sure to leave a tab to fold over the string at the top of the ghost.
