How far in advance do I have to book my field trip?

The earlier you make your reservation, the better chance you have of visiting the Museum on the date you request.  Call our reservation coordinator 404.527.3693, email reservations@childrensmuseumatlanta.org, or fax in your reservation to 404.223.3675.  A 50% non-refundable credit card deposit is required at time of booking.

What do I need in order to make a reservation?
You should have at least two possible dates selected for your visit, the number of children and chaperones (we require at least one chaperone for every 5 children), and a credit card for the 50% non-refundable deposit.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept school checks made out to Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta, cash, or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Amex).  School check or school credit card must be used for tax exempt status.

We are tax exempt, what do we do?

You must provide the Reservations department with the tax exemption form prior to your visit.  Forms cannot be accepted at the time of arrival.  Refunds cannot be issued for taxes that have been paid.  Please ensure that all forms have been received by the Reservations department and that your reservation is accurate prior to arrival.

If I need to change or cancel a reservation, how do I proceed, and is there a penalty?

Call Reservations at 404.527.3693 as soon as possible to cancel or change a reservation. Reservations are held with a 50% non-refundable deposit.  Up to four weeks prior to your field trip date and based upon availability, you may reschedule your field trip during the same school year without penalty.  Groups that fail to cancel may be required to pay in advance prior to their next visit.  Cancellations made less than 4 weeks prior to visit will result in forfeiture of 50% deposit.

Can I schedule a field trip for any time?
Field trips are scheduled for Tuesday-Friday only.  We request that you arrive at 9:45 AM to allow time for processing your group's paperwork.  We begin programming promptly at 10:00 AM.  Unguided field trip experiences are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday-Friday.  Your classes may stay in the Museum as long as they like.

What are your target ages?

Our target ages are two years old to third grade.

How many students can I bring at one time?

The Museum has a maximum field trip capacity of 200 adults and students total, for the facility, on a space-available basis.  This number includes a maximum 167 students plus 1 required chaperone per every five students (33 chaperones total).

For the Discover Science Field Trip Experience, the maximum capacity is 120.  This number includes a maximum of 100 students and one required chaperone per every five students.  (20 chaperones total).

What do we do when we arrive?

Your bus will be greeted by our Imaginators. They will board the bus and give a brief orientation to your students, teachers and chaperones.  The students will then enter through the field trip entrance, right into the Museum.  The lead teacher will be asked to have a final count of: children, and children under the age of 2 and all adults.

My check is made out for more than the number of children who showed up.  Do I get a refund?
All check payments are final and refunds will not be issued for any reason. Whenever possible, it's always best to not have the check amount filled out until actual day.

Where and when will we eat lunch?

Lunch space is limited.  The Museum has picnic-like tables in the back of the Museum.  To accommodate all field trips, we arrange a lunch schedule and notify you upon arrival.  Centennial Olympic Park is also a great location for lunch outside.

Should our students bring in their lunch or leave it on the bus?
We recommend you bring your lunches into the Museum, unless you plan on eating at Centennial Olympic Park.

What if we don't want to bring lunch, do you have a food vendor?
The Museum does not have an on-site food vendor, but lunch can be arranged through Chick-fil-A for delivery by calling them directly at 404.577.4194.  Orders must be placed at least 3 days before your visit.

Where do we load and unload children at the Museum?
Buses will only be permitted to load and unload on Baker Street.

Where do we park our buses during the field trip and how much does it cost?
Our field trip bus parking is located at 362 Jones Ave, Atlanta, GA 30314 in the Georgia World Congress Center Motor Coach parking yard.  Parking fee is $25 per bus, van, or other vehicle.  Payment for parking can be paid in advance or upon check-in.  You will receive a parking voucher and directions to the parking yard during check-in for your field trip.  Bus drivers must remain with the bus at all times.   The Georgia World Congress Center Motor Coach parking yard offers a bus driver lounge while you wait.  Please make sure all teachers have a way to contact the bus driver.

Ford Imaginators on the Go! FAQs

Is each Workshop session the same within each Program?

Yes.  The Imaginators are not certified teachers.  Teachers must be present at all times.
