General FAQs
What is Target Free Second Tuesday?
Target Free Second Tuesday
is a special opportunity for families with young children to visit Imagine
It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta and experience the Museum for free. Free admission is made possible through the
generous support of Target. Every second
Tuesday of the Month, visitors who may not have the opportunity to experience
Imagine It!, or want to try the Museum free of charge are able to do so through
our partnership with Target.
When is Target Free Second Tuesday?
Target Free Second Tuesday
is held on the second Tuesday of each month.
What time does Target Free Second Tuesday begin?
Target Free Second Tuesday begins
at 1:00
PM.
What time does Target Free Second Tuesday end?
On Target Free Second
Tuesday, Imagine It! closes at 7:00 PM. Target Free Second Tuesday ends when the
Museum closes.
Why is Target Free Second Tuesday not free all day?
Target has been very
generous with a year-long donation to Imagine It! which gives us the ability to
offer free admission to our community. We have chosen 1:00 PM-7:00 PM, because it allows more families to attend after
school and after work.
Where should I park?
There are several parking
lots surrounding the Museum. The World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium
also have parking available ($10.00 per car). Please be advised that there is no free parking in downtown Atlanta and lots with a “no attendant on duty sign” call for
exact change placed in payment slot.
For what age is Imagine It! designed?
The Museum is primarily
designed for children 8 and younger.
Do you have an adult to child ratio?
Do you have an adult to child ratio?
Yes. We require that you have at least one adult
for every five children.
What if we want to enter the museum earlier than 1:00 PM?
Free admission begins at 1:00 PM, but if you would like to attend the Museum prior
to that entrance time, the Museum is still open and general admission is $12.75 + Tax for ages 1 to 100. Children under 1 are free.
What time should I plan on arriving?
This varies by time of year,
and whether or not Target Free Second Tuesday falls on a school holiday. The line outside the Museum typically starts
forming around 11:00 AM. During summer months, the line may begin forming
as early as 9:00
AM.
What is the best time to come?
After 4:00 PM or later in the day, the line tends to be shorter. During summer months or on school holidays,
the line has extended as late as 7:00 PM. Waiting in line does not ensure admittance.
How long should we expect to wait in line?
The wait time can vary based on the time of year. Wait times can be up to 2-4
hours during busier months. This is only an estimate and wait
times may be shorter and longer.
Can we make reservations?
No. Reservations are not
accepted for Target Free Second Tuesday. Admission is extended on a first come,
first served basis.
We’re members of the Museum. Do we still need to wait in line?
Yes. During Target Free Second Tuesday, all
visitors must wait in line to gain access to the Museum. Members may enter the Museum up until 12:45 PM with their valid membership card. Any additional
guests not listed on membership entering the Museum prior to 1:00 PM will need to pay admission, or they can choose to
wait in line. Members arriving after 12:45 pm will need to wait in line.
When do you hand out tickets?
Target Free Second Tuesday
begins at 1:00
PM. Tickets are distributed starting at 1:00 PM and handed out to those visitors waiting in line
until the Museum reaches capacity. If capacity has been reached,
visitors still waiting in line will be admitted once capacity opens up in the
Museum and families exit the building.
What is capacity?
Capacity is the total number
of people legally allowed in the building. This number varies with each
traveling exhibit.
What If I don’t want to wait in line, can I pay to
get in?
During Target Free Second
Tuesday, Target sponsors admission. Payment cannot be accepted after 1:00 PM. All visitors wanting admission
to Imagine It! must wait in line. If you
prefer, you may visit the Museum on another day, or prior to 1:00 PM. Imagine It! is open Monday – Friday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM and Weekends 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. We are
closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Can I come early and hold spots in line for my
family?
No. If you decide to arrive early, your family
must be in line when tickets are distributed. Tickets are only distributed to complete parties. If your entire group is not present, tickets
will not be issued.
Once inside, can we leave and come back?
No. On Target Free Second Tuesday, once you exit through
security your ticket will no longer be valid and you may not re-enter the
Museum.

sure to dress in layers. We also recommend bringing games or coloring books to

wait inside or enter the building without a ticket.
